remember me

This week has been a difficult one.
I keep going back a year and playing everything over
and over in my mind. At this point a year ago Kristen
was still feeling pretty good. However, we all knew she was fighting
a battle she could not win. It broke our hearts.
I was looking through a book I had received
after Kristen passed away.
This stood out today almost as though Kristen wanted me
to read it. As much as I miss her I know she too is
missing me.

Remember me

Remember me
whenever you see a sunrise.
Remember me
whenever you see a star.
Remember me
whenever you see a rainbow,
Or woods in autumn colors from afar.
Remember me
whenever you see the roses,
or seagulls sailing high in a sky of blue.
Remember me
whenever you see waves shining in the sun,
And remember, I'll be rememb'ring you.
Remember me
whenever you see a teardrop,
Or meadows still wet with the morning dew.
Remember me
whenever you feel love growing in your heart,
And remember I'll be rememb'ring you.
Remember me
whenever you feel love growing in your heart,
And remember I'll be rememb'ring you.

Polly, I just closed the store and had to come up to share this with you before we go home. I had a group of new women in the store today from a town about one hour south of us. One of them was in the kitchen and I heard her call her friends in to read the frame with Kristen's story. They were of course all very touched and then we talked about it and I shared the magazine story. While I was telling them about our visit and how much it meant to Sarah and me to be able to meet you, the blind on the window all of a sudden snapped open. We were all startled. A short while later, one of the women who had gone back into the kitchen asked me what scent the candle was that was burning. I told her there was no candle burning. She replied, "yes, this one." I did not know what she was talking about as I did not light any candles today and could not have even if I wanted to as the lighter I use is empty. So I walked in to see what she might be refering to and Kristen's candle was indeed flaming. I had goosebumps. I didn't know what to say so I nonchalantly(as though this happens all the time) said, "Like the story says, this is Kristen's kitchen." Sarah is right Polly, Kristen is with us all. All the time. And she doesn't want us to forget.

I was dusting Sara's room yesterday and she pointed out Kristen's candle and asked when we could light it again. She still carries her picture and talks about her. I find myself thinking of you as well, wondering how you are doing. Hugs to you : o )
